Lessons

“When you learn a language such as English,” says Edward Bemish, professional pianist and instructor, “you begin with letters and sounds. Those are then integrated to form words,
and words then connected to form sentences. The same approach holds true in piano. We begin with understanding the letters and the sounds of the keyboard and how to form music through the combination of those sounds. Once this occurs, students are able to recognize, translate and integrate tones and chords collectively to result in harmonious sounds, or as in my language analogy, ‘sentences’.”

We begin with understanding the letters and the sounds of the keyboard and how to form music through the combination of those sounds. Once this occurs, students are able to recognize, translate and integrate tones and chords collectively to result in harmonious sounds, or as in my language analogy, ‘sentences’.” To that end, lessons include:
- Proper Technique
- Music Theory
- Sight-Reading
- Improvisation
- Ear Training
- Composition

With proper technique and understanding of keyboard concepts, students are able to achieve musical rhythms specific to different styles of music and fluidity in their performance.
We also understand that everyone’s musical tastes are different. Students may choose to explore one genre of music such as jazz, classical, blues, new age, pop, or rock or explore several to broaden their repertoire – whichever they prefer.
This comprehensive approach provides our students with a “sound” music education that enhances not only their ability to play piano, but to understand and appreciate how music is composed.
Music instruction is available for adults and children ages 5 and up. Instruction is offered Monday through Saturday (year-round) on a pre-scheduled basis. Rates are based on the duration and frequency of lessons.
